We are not currently installing ramps in the snow & ice.
However, our ramp program for the differently abled is now accepting applications, and we currently have a waiting list for our ramp program.
These are reusable aluminum modular ramps that are installed by a team of volunteers. When they are no longer needed, they are removed and placed elsewhere for someone else's use.
If you are interested in volunteering for the installation team, or if you or someone you know is in need of a ramp please call the ramp department of the Habitat office at (419) 333-1104. You may also fill out the ramp request form below.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can request a ramp?
Our ramp program is open to residents located in Sandusky County, Ohio* who are in need of a ramp to get in and out of their home. Qualifications for the ramp program are need & income based.
*Excluding Bellevue residents, who are serviced by Firelands Habitat For Humanity.
What are the steps to getting a ramp?
- Fill out an online request form or call 419-333-1104.
- You will then be contacted by Sandusky County Habitat to start the work agreement paperwork. This consists of an application, certification of income eligibility, and possibly a landlord release authorization to install form.
- A Habitat staff member will conduct a home visit & a ramp installer will measure for a ramp.
- Once all your paperwork is complete, your ramp will be ordered. This can take up to 2 weeks.
- Habitat & volunteers will install your ramp.
All ramps are owned by Sandusky County Habitat for Humanity and are on loan to residents. They should be returned to Habitat when they are no longer needed. Habitat will check in twice a year to verify that a need for the ramp still exists. Habitat will only install the ramp. They are not responsible or repairing or installing any additional structural needs.
What are the income guidelines?
Income eligibility is factored by the number of people living in the home and by the total annual household income.
See the chart below for the income guidelines. (Guidelines are updated annually mid-year by HUD.)
